today is our speaker series' talk...
i was happy that a lot are participative in the talk...
it makes me feel appreciated.. all the hard work paid off... =)
but i cant help it but to feel sad too...
naguiguilty ako on how we treated our guest speaker...
nahihiya ako because he was put in a difficult situation
despite the fact that he took a time off from his work
Sir Alex came to us
he even prepared his own powerpoint
he came to us to share his side
to enlighten us
that was his objective.. to make us understand their side.. to know the two sides of the coin...
in inserch
we were taught to be as nice as we can to our informants...
do not show any biases when asking questions,
do not show any reactions even if i feel that i'm against his insight...
basically, i learned how to respect an individual's opinion...
especially when the person is doing you a favor...
and i applied in my everyday life and in the talk as well...
the talk is about why women buy men's magazine...
in my opinion, its not proper to ask about his personal life
family and job are two different things...
i feel sad... maybe we could blame it in the capitalist system of ours...
it is not his fault that he is made the scapegoat of the real culprit
he's only taking orders from his boss...
i personally can't blame him if he works in FHM
just the same way if a person works at a call center...
beggars cant be choosy...
i am even open minded that yes i may be landing at a call center job in the near future...
and i have the courage to admit that....
before i used to say na 'tsss, call center, you wont get there anywhere'
but now, i became more understanding about it...
it's not brought about the person's personal choice to work there
but they find it as a necessity to survive...
sometimes, people do not have the luxury to think of having the career she or he wants... but they must think of what she or he needs...
when asking questions, i think it would be nice to ask in a nicer way even if our opinions may differ from his'...
it's a matter of pakikisama...
there's always two sides to a coin...
if there's a pessimistic view, there's always an optimistic view...
in popcult, we have also discussed this issue
especially the part where magazines give tips on how women could please their men...
Dr. Datuin agreed when one of us explained it in a different light
some women know what they have and they know how to use what they have to control men- beauty
yes men may look at you but you could take an advantage of that...
men can be the head and the women is only the neck
but then again
the neck controls where the head will look at...
(i think Kimi shared this to the class)
it's just a matter of learning how to use this power to control men...
it's not always about feeling that men looks at you in a maniac way and then you feel oppressed
use that charm to control men...
i learned to be more open minded in popcult...
dont get me wrong
i am a feminist...
as wald if you want =p
he's a good testimony to that...
but right now
my conscience is really killing me..
i sympathize with the speaker...
i feel that he's a lot nicer as a person no matter where he is working at...
no matter which vile company it is...
he's more civilized than me...
more civilized than most of us would act...
if i was in his place, i would have harshly told the whole class that 'hey, this is reality... deal with it'
but then again, he handled it better than i would have...
he admits his mistakes,he is humble enough to do that...
but then again, it's the circumstances that made him like that...
and i look up to him for that...
that's why my conscience is killing me...
i dont feel like i deserve a grade for this...
i dont feel i deserve getting a grade for trampling on someone who offered his help...
do not judge a book by its covers as the saying goes...
its not always the case that all of the staffs in FHM is bad just because FHM's reputation is that it's bastos....
i just remembered
my brother thought before that FHM is bastos
when he opened one (mine's), he told me
'hindi pala puro kabastusan FHM, para lang syang regular magazine na maraming finefeature'
i guess it's stereotyping in a way...
but then again
i can't blame if people stereotype FHM as bastos...
coz that is what's on the cover...
sorry guys if ever i made you feel bad... if ever lang...
my conscience is killing me...
i don't think i can sleep tonight...
i know karma will bite me
but i don't care...
i know i deserve it...
